I’m so sad today. Willy died.
He was the only doggie here when I came here to live. There was another one named Jake, but he died and that’s when they brought me here. Willy was my buddy. He taught me everything I know.
He had diabetes and they think he had cancer too. My humans took him to the vet and they gave him something to help him fall asleep and go to Heaven.
He’s with Jake and Moe and Ivan now.
I sure miss him.

Almost the whole shelf now is hamsters (and the one gerbil, Jimmy).
The big tank got divided in half this time and the boys went on one side and the girls (and their babies that are too little to leave them yet) went on the other. Missy says this way there won’t be anymore babies coming around but I don’t know how that will stop it.
Charlie, who did have the one side of the big tank now has a little tank like Jimmy’s. But Jimmy’s tank has a top floor with ramps and stuff. Charlie’s doesn’t have a top floor. Of course he’s just a little guy so maybe he doesn’t need all that much room.
There are at least 6 babies at the moment, along with three that are not grown up yet but which aren’t nursing anymore. They call those the toddlers. One is named Harvey, and every time I turn around they’re singing some song about “Harvey the wonder hamster.” Harvey is almost totally white and he’s the biggest. He was from a litter that they thought they all died but then suddenly one day there he is, in the tank bopping around so obviously one of them was in hiding somewhere!!
The other two are from the next litter after Harvey. They’re twins. Both of them are brown, but they have little half pink and half tan noses. They’re really cute!
I’m not allowed to play with any of them. But Jimmy and I do still touch noses through the top of his cage.

Those hamsters need to settle down! First Debbie had babies. Four of them. They were way little though and they died or got eaten or something. I just know one day they were there and the next day they were gone and Missy and Mommy were cleaning out the whole cage looking for them and not finding them. They emptied all the cage out and took out all the litter and went through it all and never did find them.
But on Friday Mary had babies and there are at least four of them and so far they’re all still alive. They were bigger than Debbie’s babies. And Debbie is helping take care of them. Weird.
Charlie’s pretty happy I think. He’s always bopping around and running.
Jimmy’s cool. I like Jimmy. He comes up to the top of the cage and talks to me. I hang out on top of the chair a lot now so that we can talk. My humans laugh at me for it but I like talking to Jimmy. He chews on everything!!
Well, that’s all for now. I want to go play with Jimmy some more.

His name is Charlie. He’s settling down a little bit. Boy is he small!!
Speaking of hamsters, Missy thinks that Debbie is going to have babies. And maybe Mary too. Mommy says if that happens, the divider gets moved to the middle of the tank and the boys get one side and the girls get the other and they stay segregated so that we stop the rodent population right now.
I think I like gerbils better than hamsters but I’m not sure. I just know that Jimmy is really fun. I like him a lot. He likes me too.

They said he died. Missy and mommy took him to the vet while he was still alive but when they got him there he died with the vet, who said she thinks he had a stroke because of an electrolyte imbalance. I don’t know what a stroke or an electrolyte is and I’m not sure what died means except when it happens you go away forever and everybody is sad.

I sure miss Mo. He is the hamster there on the far right of this picture. He was a furball. He was my friend.
Missy and mommy took the whole hamster palace apart and washed everything in the big box upstairs that sterilizes stuff. Some of the tubes melted and they had to buy new ones.
A new ham came to live here but he is WAY little. And hyper and FAST. AND an escape artist. Missy says hes a robo ham and they haven’t named him yet. Here’s a picture of him anyhow:

He’s cute and funny to watch. And Jimmy seems to find him interesting, he keeps watching him too. But I still miss Mo.

He couldn’t live in the cage anymore because he was making too big of a mess. He digs all the time! So mommy and daddy went to the pet store and bought him a ten gallong aquarium with a cage thing that goes on top to make it two levels.
Gerbils look like hamsters but they have tails instead of little stubs. I like this gerbil, he’s really friendly and he isn’t scared of me! He touches noses with me like Mo!
Here is a picture of Jimmy:

She’s going nuts! A new pet came to live here today, a little gerbil they’ve named Jimmy. Jimmy is living in the cage that Max and her babies lived in.
Missy was tired of not being able to sleep in her room because the hamsters make so much noise, so she moved their palace downstairs to the basement and put it on one of the built-in cabinets. She puts Jimmy’s cage next to that.
And now, Vixie is going nuts. She wants one of the babies SO bad. They’re SO close and yet so far away. It’s funny.
I think our humans are going to take some more pictures. Plus a picture of Jimmy to add to the “meet the pets” page. I hope we don’t have to pose a hundred times again. Unless they want to give us some hot dogs. If we get hot dogs, I’ll pose for them all day long! Yum!
